Accepting ribbons for their cheese displays at the Upper Peninsula State Fair in 1977 are (from left to right) Mel Bertrand, representing Swift & Co.; Lloyd Benson, representing Frigo Cheese Corp of Daggett; and Harry Buchman of the Rapid River Cheese Co. The Rapid River company won four ribbons at the fair, more than any other firm. They were presented the ribbons at the U.P. Dairy Manufacturer's Association annual meet held at the House of Ludington the week of Sept. 16, 1977. The main speaker at the event was Dr. B.
