National Active and Retired Federal Employees meeting

ESCANABA – The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will meet Wednesday at 1 p.m. by Zoom only. The group is slated to hear a presentation by Callie Barr, candidate for Michigan’s First Congressional District.

Also, Michigan NARFE Federation President Joe DeSira will swear in 2026 Chapter officers.

Chapter members will receive the Zoom link by email. Members who are not on the Chapter email distribution and who want to receive the Zoom link and passcode can email narfe1900.scty@gmail.com.

Any active or retired Federal employees are invited to attend NARFE meetings. Non-members are welcome as guests.

Gladstone American Legion dinner

GLADSTONE – The public is invited to join the American Legion Post 71, 802 Delta Ave., for a steak feed dinner Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Post 71 members get a discounted price on their meal (must show card).

St. Thomas breakfast

ESCANABA – St. Thomas the Apostle Church, found at 1820 9th Ave. N. in Escanaba, will host a breakfast on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, pancakes, applesauce, juice and coffee will be served. The public is welcome.

Delta Dems to meet

ESCANABA – The Delta County Democratic Party will meet Wednesday, March 4 at the USW Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. The group will be holding their spring county convention at 6:15 p.m. with social time to follow. The general monthly meeting begins at 7 p.m. The Delta Dems invite people to join for lots of good information, interaction and speakers. Elks Auxiliary

ESCANABA – The Elks Auxiliary will hold their March meeting on Thursday, March 5. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:45 p.m. and meeting to follow.

Dance in Rock

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Road, on Sunday, March 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. Live music will be performed by Red River Band.

There is a cost at the door and a free-will donation lunch will be available.

Parkinson support group to meet

ESCANABA – The Michigan Parkinson Foundation support group for Escanaba and the surrounding areas meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The group will meet Tuesday, March 10 at the Community Action Agency, 507 1st Ave. North in Escanaba.

Everyone is welcome to attend – people with Parkinson’s, their families and caregivers.

St. Thomas sets pasty sale

ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N., will have a pasty sale Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 12. Pick up time is between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. There will be no early sales – first come, first served. To order in advance, call Carole at 906-786-8656 and indicate with or without rutabaga.

Annual grant applications to the Rotary Club of Marquette Harbor

MARQUETTE – The Rotary Club of Marquette Harbor is offering competitive grants for up to $15,000 during 2026 to tax exempt organizations in Marquette County. All applications must be received before Friday, March 13.

The club will support specific projects and will prioritize those that focus on youth in the area, though projects that are not youth-oriented will be considered depending on available funds.

Great Lakes Youth Pool Tournament

ESCANABA – Crazy Joe’s will be hosting their 36th annual Great Lakes Youth Pool Tournament on Saturday, March 14 at 12 p.m. There is no entry fee.

The event, open to any boy or girl age eight to 20, will take place in Crazy Joe’s pool hall, 224 Stephenson Ave. The tournament will be played in an 8-ball format with double elimination across 10 tables.

There are three age divisions: eight to 12, 13 to 16 and 17 to 20. First through third place trophies will be awarded in each division as well as a custom cue and case will be awarded to first place division winners. Everyone has a chance to win a gift card, one for male entrant and one for female entrant.

All entrants age 12 to 16 must bring a copy of their birth certificate or driver’s license to the tournament. Kids must register before 11 a.m.

Rocks Lions & Legion breakfast

ESCANABA – The Rock Lions and Legion will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day breakfast buffet Sunday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to noon (note the new hours) at the club, 14454 M-35 in Rock.

There is a fee for the buffet, which includes screamed eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuit & sausage gravy, pancakes, french toast and a selection of desserts. Drinks include coffee, milk and juice.

The Rock Lions Club is a non-profit service organization that provides funding for charitable organizations and local needs.

Relationship seminar

ESCANABA – The Escanaba SDA Church, 210 South Lincoln Road, will be hosting a three-part relationship seminar held by Ron Price, MA, on Friday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Price is the author of three books in the “Play Nice in Your Sandbox” series. He has been a mediator for over 35 years, a life and relationship coach since 2002 and is also the host of the Relationship CPR program heard weekly on Strong Tower Radio at 90.9 FM.

Escanaba Kiwanis Club Spring Expo

ESCANABA – Registration materials for the Escanaba Kiwanis Club’s Spring Expo vendor show are now available at their website, EscanabaKiwanis.org, by emailing a request to Kiwanis.SpringExpo@gmail.com or by leaving a message at 906-786-6013.

The Spring Expo will take place Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12. In previous years, the Spring Expo was known as the Home and Garden Show. The name change reflects the growth and evolution of the event to a celebration of everything the area offers as it moves toward spring.

Delta Animal Shelter requests donations

ESCANABA – The Delta Animal Shelter is in need of the following donations; Purina Cat Chow (blue bag), Purina Kitten Chow (yellow bag), NutriSource chicken/rice dog food, Purina One chicken/rice dog food, canned dog food, canned cat/kitten food, soft dog treats, scoopable cat litter, clay cat litter, bleach, liquid Lysol, paper towels, dish soap, garbage bags, power laundry detergent, hand sanitizer and dog collars/leashes.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, 6975 County Road, 426 M 5, during business hours of 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or outside the building in their donation box.

Gladstone church offers clothing

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, has a free clothes closet with coats, and shoes available in most sizes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment by calling 906-428-9311. Donations are also accepted.

Escanaba Class of ’76 reunion

ESCANABA — The Escanaba High School Class of 1976 has scheduled its 50th reunion for Sept. 26 at the Highland Golf Course.

A schedule of events for the weekend and registration materials will be provided on the class Facebook page, Escanaba Class of 1976, or by email.

Donations sought for book sale

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival.

They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested. Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.

Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.
