Train group to meet
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine No. 730 Authority will have its regular monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. today at Solid Rock Church, 819 Delta Ave.
They will discuss the annual golf tournament fundraiser, scheduled for May 28 at the Escanaba Country Club. For more details about the group’s efforts to maintain Soo Line history, call John Pickard at 906-241-0888.
Local Parkinson support group
ESCANABA — The Michigan Parkinson Foundation support group for Escanaba and the surrounding areas meets at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. Choral to start rehearsals
ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Choral Society will begin weekly rehearsals from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba in preparation for the Spring Concert on April 12. St. Thomas sets pasty sale
ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church will have a pasty sale Wednesday and Thursday. Pasties can be with or without rutabaga. Pickup will be between 3 and 5 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis at the church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N. in Escanaba.
Escanaba Kiwanis Club Spring Expo
ESCANABA – Registration materials for the Escanaba Kiwanis Club’s Spring Expo vendor show are now available at their website, EscanabaKiwanis.org, by emailing a request to Kiwanis.SpringExpo@gmail.com or by leaving a message at 906-786-6013.
The Spring Expo will take place Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12. In previous years, the Spring Expo was known as the Home and Garden Show. The name change reflects the growth and evolution of the event to a celebration of everything the area offers as it moves toward spring.
Bay to close on MLK Day
ESCANABA – The Bay College Escanaba Campus will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular campus hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Rapid River church pasty sale
RAPID RIVER — St. Charles Church, 7860 River St. in Rapid River, will once again sell fresh pasties monthly starting Tuesday, Jan. 27. Pickup will be 1-3 p.m. at the parish center. Pre-orders are suggested and can be made by calling 906-474-6606.
Gladstone church offers clothing
GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, has a free clothes closet with coats, and shoes available in most sizes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment by calling 906-428-9311. Donations are also accepted.
Escanaba Class of ’76 reunion
ESCANABA — The Escanaba High School Class of 1976 has scheduled its 50th reunion for Sept. 26 at the Highland Golf Course.
A schedule of events for the weekend and registration materials will be provided on the class Facebook page, Escanaba Class of 1976, or by email.

Donations sought for book sale
ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival.
They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested. Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.
Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.
Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.
