Bay College holiday closures

ESCANABA/IRON MOUNTAIN — Bay College will be closed today through Friday for the Christmas holiday.

The college will be open Monday, Dec. 29, through Wednesday, Dec. 31. Bay will close again for the New Year holiday on Thursday, Jan. 1, and will re-open Friday, Jan. 2.

Bay College wishes everyone a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year.

Gladstone Library Friends drive

GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library has started its 2025 Membership and Donation Drive, accepting monetary donations through Dec. 31.

Those interested can donate or sign up for a membership at the Gladstone Public Library, 300 S. 10th St. Membership dues are $10 for adults, $20 for families, $50 for patrons or $200 for lifetime.

All dues and donations go directly to the library to help support activities and programs for the community and children, such as story hours, summer reading programs, downloadable books and magazines, and library hours outside normal school day hours.

The Friends also host various events throughout the year, such as their Card/Game Parties in both June and November and a Candlelight Dinner in April.

Gladstone church offers clothing

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, has a free clothes closet with coats, and shoes available in most sizes. Open Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment by calling 906-428-9311. Donations are also accepted.

Escanaba Class of ’76 reunion

ESCANABA — The Escanaba High School Class of 1976 has scheduled its 50th reunion for Sept. 26 at the Highland Golf Course.

A schedule of events for the weekend and registration materials will be provided on the class Facebook page, Escanaba Class of 1976, or by email.

Delta Dems meet Jan. 7

ESCANABA — The Delta Democrats will host a speaker and discussion at its regular meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the United Steelworkers Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

Delta GOP meet Jan. 8

ESCANABA — The Delta County Republicans will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in room 421 of the BHAT Building on the Bay College Escanaba Campus. The group will discuss local issues and share upcoming events and ways to get involved. The public is welcome to attend.

Donations sought for book sale

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival.

They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested. Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.

Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.
