GHS Class of ’65 donation

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone High School Class of 1965 recently raised $750 at its 60th class reunion to donate to the Gladstone Braves Fan Club.

The class had its reunion in September at the Mead Rod & Gun Club, County 420 21st Road. The donation was presented Oct. 8 to the Gladstone High School, 2100 M-35.

MSP collecting winter coats

MARQUETTE — The Michigan State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is collecting new and gently used coats for adults and children during its fifth-annual winter coat drive going on now through Nov. 27.

Donations can be dropped off in person during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at either the Eighth District Headquarters, 1924 Industrial Parkway in Marquette, 906-225-7030; or the Sault Ste. Marie Post No. 82, 3900 I-75 BR, Sault Ste. Marie, 906-632-2217. All donations will remain local.

Breakfast at St. Thomas church

ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N. in Escanaba, will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, pancakes, applesauce, juice and coffee. The public is welcome.

Delta MARSP meet Nov. 4

FLAT ROCK — The Delta County chapter of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, or MARSP, will have its next meeting at noon Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4011 20th Road in Flat Rock.

Chicken and spaghetti will be served. The association will be collecting used eyeglasses.

Free yoga session at library

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Public Library will host a free yoga session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5. This introduction to chair yoga with Martina Mileski is designed for every body — all ages, all mobility and all experience levels. No registration is required; participants can show up at the library, 400 Ludington St., just before start time.

St. Thomas sets pasty sale

ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1820 Ninth Ave. N., will have a pasty sale Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 5-6. To order in advance, call Carole at 906-786-8656 and indicate with or without rutabaga.

Delta Dems to meet Nov. 5

ESCANABA — The Delta Dems will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the USW Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. Social time begins at 6:30, and the gathering frequently has guest speakers. Program on homeless awareness

ESCANABA — The Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency will host a Lunch & Learn as well as a donation drive to spread awareness about the homeless from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Escanaba Civic Center, 225 N. 21st St. November is National Homelessness Awareness Month.

MDSCAA suggests a donation of $8. The event will “share information about our services and how you can help a person in need,” according to the MDSCAA flyer for the event.

Reservations for Elks Auxiliary

ESCANABA — The Elks Auxiliary’s November meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 6. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:45 p.m. and meeting to follow. To make reservations, call or text Jayne at 906-786-7871; cancellations must be done by noon Monday.

Meet state Senate candidate

ESCANABA — Delta County Unified will host a Meet & Greet with 38th District Michigan Senate candidate Chris Reynolds at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the United Steel Workers Local 21 Union Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road in Escanaba. Everyone is welcome to attend.

YMCA to have NERF event

ESCANABA — Northern Lights YMCA Delta Program Center will host NERF Night at the Turf for fourth through sixth grades from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Hannahville Ice & Turf Complex. The cost will be $10 for YMCA members and $15 for non-members. The YMCA will provide the space, obstacles and supervision. Players bring their own NERF gear — NERF guns, foam bullets, vest and goggles. All FOAM NERF equipment is welcome. Eye protection is required, and a limited amount of supplies will be available. Immanuel church rummage sale

ESCANABA — Immanuel Lutheran Church will have its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at 600 S. Lincoln Road, next to the Christian Park Center. Clothing, household items, furniture, toys and more will be available. Come before or after the craft sale at the high school. To donate, call or text 906-786-6876 to set up a drop-off time.

Dance in Rock on Nov. 9

ROCK — Rock Community/Senior Center, 3892 W. Mapleridge Road, will host a dance from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, with The Ghost Riders providing live music.

Local Parkinson support group

ESCANABA — The Michigan Parkinson Foundation support group for Escanaba and the surrounding areas meets at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Donations sought for book sale

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival.

They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested. Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.

Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.
