Lake Superior Fiber Festival on Oct. 4 in Marquette

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Regional History Center will have its fourth biennial Lake Superior Fiber Festival from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the center in Marquette.

The event will feature colorful displays of quilts, knits and other fiber arts. Attendees can watch several creative or educational demos. There will be door prizes such as books, patterns, yarn and more. Attendees can also take home free hands-on arts and crafts activities.

The general admission is $10 for adults; $8 for seniors and military; $4 for students, including college students with IDs; and $3 for children 12 and younger. It will cover entry to the museum and to the fiber festival. Sponsor-level museum members and above receive free admission.

Attendees are invited to submit their own creations to the fashion show. This informal show will begin at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time and will last about 30 minutes. Participants can show off socks, mittens, hats, sweaters, scarves, shawls, purses and any other sewn, quilted, woven, felted, knitted, crocheted or embroidered garments and accessories. They can wear more than one handmade item and children are welcome to participate.

Rosemary Michelin will be the emcee at the show. Pick up and submit item description forms to the MRHC by noon Friday, Oct. 3.
