Esky Class of 1970 reunion venue changes

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1970 will be holding their 55th reunion on Saturday, Aug. 16 at the House of Ludington. The previous venue was Mo’s Pub. The cost is $25 to be paid at the door.

Ice cream social Aug. 27 in Bark River

BARK RIVER — The Bark River Legion Auxiliary, Post 438, is hosting an ice cream social on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. EST under the pavilion at the Bark River Park. This is a rain or shine event featuring ice cream, a variety of toppings, bars/cookies, and water.

During the social there will be entertainment by the Peltier Brothers. There is seating at picnic tables under the pavilion, but it is recommended guests bring lawn chairs.

A freewill donation is requested, with all proceeds going toward the U.P. Honor Flight and veteran’s services locally.

Free Christian Celtic music concert

ESCANABA — MPK Celtic Band, a group that performs Celtic music with a Christian message, will be performing on Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside Christian Church located at 2300 S 21st St. in Escanaba. The concert is free, but a freewill offering will be collected.

Steam and Gas Engine Association book

ESCANABA — “The Upper Peninsula Steam & Gas Engine Association: A Narrative History,” a book celebrating of the association’s first 50 years, will be available for purchase at the U.P. State Fair, during the association’s annual Labor Day Show, and during Christmas in the Village. The book is filled with pictures and stories about the group and its history. The price is $35.

ESCANABA — Upper Peninsula Family Solutions is seeking foster parents throughout the U.P. Foster parents must pass a background check, as well as several other clearances, to demonstrate a safe and positive home environment. Free Clothes Closet

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church Clothes Closet is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closet offers free clothes, coats and shoes for children, adults and in all sizes, including infant and plus sizes. Gladstone Class of 1970 reunion

GLADSTONE — Gladstone High School Class of 1970 is having a 55th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 23. The reunion will take place at the Lake Bluff Retirement Village’s Community Center located at 401 Kenneally Blvd., Gladstone, beginning at 4 p.m. More information will be posted as soon as possible on the GHS Class of 1970 Facebook page.

— American Legion Post #71 Gladstone – first Wednesday of month 6 p.m., Gladstone American Legion Hall, 802 Delta Ave., Gladstone.

— American Legion Post #82 – first Tuesday of month 6 p.m., Purple Heart building, 1202 Sheridan Road in Escanaba.

— Veterans of Foreign Wars #2998 – second Monday of month 6 p.m., Purple Heart building, 1202 Sheridan Road in Escanaba.

— Bark River American Legion Post #438 – second Monday of month at 6 p.m. at the Bark River Senior Center, located at 4283 D Rd. in Bark River.

— Delta County Veterans Counsel – second Monday of month at 7 p.m. (following VFW #2998), Purple Heart building, 1202 Sheridan Road in Escanaba.
