Trinity Pancake Brunch set for Aug. 9
STONINGTON — The 3rd Annual Trinity Pancake Brunch will take place Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Stonington Community Hall, located at 5870 County 513 T Road.
Swedish pancakes are the highlight of the breakfast, along with buttermilk pancakes, bacon, sausage and more. Raffles, quilts, entertainment and 50/50 drawings will be happening.
The breakfast is sponsored by the Trinity Lutheran Church Women’s Group.
Free Christian Celtic music concert
ESCANABA — MPK Celtic Band, a group that performs Celtic music with a Christian message, will be performing on Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside Christian Church located at 2300 S 21st St. in Escanaba. The concert is free, but a freewill offering will be collected.

Pancake breakfast to benefit Esky football program
ESCANABA — A pancake breakfast fundraiser for the Escanaba Junior High football program will be held Sunday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Escanaba Eagles, located at 608 Ludington Street. The cost for the breakfast is $10 per person, with children 10 and under eating free.
Jeff Hunt to perform at Escanaba SDA Church
ESCANABA — Jeff Hunt, from Tampa Florida, a former member of Heritage and a 3ABN vocalist, will be in concert at the Escanaba SDA Church on Aug. 3rd and 6 p.m.
Hunt was the recipient of the International Angel Award for Album of the Year and Male Vocalist nominee. His southern gospel program will include songs from his latest project recorded in Los Angeles, stories, humor and an emphasis on knowing the trust about God.
The Escanaba SDA Church is located at 210 South Lincoln Road. This will be a visitor friendly concert. A love offering will be taken. Recordings, witness wear and children’s books will be available after the program.
All are invited and welcome.
Date changed for The Maryland State Boychoir concert
GLADSTONE — The Maryland State Boychoir will perform a free concert with choral works ranging from classical works to Broadway show tunes on Sunday, Aug. 3, at First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave. in Gladstone. The show starts at noon.
The group will also perform during the church’s 9 a.m. worship the same day.
Founded in 1987, the mission of The Maryland State Boychoir is to foster the boychoir tradition by offering talented boys opportunities to sing and build self-esteem, self-discipline and character.
The Maryland State Boychoir is Maryland’s “Official Goodwill Ambassadors” is and composed of approximately 130 singers, age 7 to 20. The boys represent a wide range of ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.
The group performs over 80 times a year. They have performed throughout Maryland, in surrounding states, and on tours that have taken them to Ireland, Wales, England, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Canada, Iceland, Bermuda, and more than 40 states across the United States.
Annual Fish Boil and Croatian Chicken Dinner
FORD RIVER — The Ford River Lions Club will hold their Annual Fish Boil and Croatian Chicken Dinner on Sunday, Aug. 3 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Lions Clubhouse on L.15 Lane. Turn at the Ford River Pub.
All proceeds from this event will be used to support local nonprofit organizations.
Motorcycle ride to support veterans coming through Gladstone
GLADSTONE — The community is asked to line the streets of Gladstone to welcome the 21st Annual Ride Around Michigan motorcycle ride participants on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 3:50 p.m. The riders will be coming from the Iron River American Legion and stopping at the Gladstone American Legion post from 4 to 5 p.m.
The ride is sponsored by the Forgotten Eagles of Michigan. The ride aims to promote POW/MIA awareness, show respect for POW/MIAs and veterans as a whole, and to raise money for Michigan veterans in need.
The ride will run from Aug. 6 through Aug. 8. It starts at the Soo American Legion and will conclude at Houghton Lake. Anyone may join in the ride, either on a motorcycle or in a vehicle, and participants can participate in the full ride or just a portion of the journey.

Democrats to meet
ESCANABA — The Delta Dems will meet Wednesday, Aug 6, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the USW Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m.
The group welcomes guests and new members and will have a booth in the Ruth Butler building at the UP State Fair.
