Opportunity to help Cancer Alliance in today’s paper

ESCANABA — Readers have the opportunity to support the Delta County Cancer Alliance.

Delta County residents who have frequently shown their support for the Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA), can step forward again. The gold envelope that you will find in today’s newspaper is one of the fundraisers the Cancer Alliance depends on to support our friends, family and neighbors of Delta County who have been diagnosed with cancer.

The DCCA has been in operation since 1995 serving thousands of cancer patients in need. The Alliance continues to operate with all volunteers. The office is staffed Monday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m., with volunteers, many of which are cancer survivors. The operations, oversight and fiscal responsibilities are run by the board of directors who also are volunteers.

According to Gayle DeShambo, board president, she is amazed at the commitment of so many people willing to share their time and talents to make this service available. With that said, you can be assured that your donation will have a direct impact for our clients enduring the challenges of cancer.

To become a client you have to be a resident of Delta County and provide your doctor with a simple form to be signed and turned into the office. This will allow the client to be eligible for $800 for the first year of treatments and $500 each consecutive year of treatments and access to a loan closet of items one may need through treatments. In addition, the office has available many personal and nutritional items.

To contact the DCCA you can call 906-786-0854 or stop by the office Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at 3430 Ludington Street, Escanaba.

This will allow the client to be eligible for $800 for the first year of treatments and $500 each consecutive year of treatments.

Starting at $3.50/week.
