Raffle winners named
ESCANABA — The winner of the June 2 St. Anthony of Padua raffle is Randy Strasler of Escanaba. Strasler won the first of 52 weekly $100 winners for the second annual calendar, which runs June 2025-May2026.
There is one $500 prize drawn on June 13, which will be announced at the parish’s Feast Day celebration.
ESCANABA — The U.P. Steam & Gas Engine Association has announced the Antique Village’s first two-day SummerFest. The free, family event will take place on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 from noon to 9 p.m. in the Antique Village, located on the U.P. State Fairgrounds.
Over 15 musicians will perform on Saturday afternoon in a variety of styles including folk, country, Celtic, and bluegrass. Acts include Granny Fox & the Farmhands, Jim Finlan, Failte, and Wild Prairie.
The Village shops and Agricultural Museum will be open noon to 5 p.m. both days.
There will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, candle making, spinning, rope making, shingle making, butter churning and more on both Friday and Saturday. Old-fashioned games and “Drive Your First Tractor” will also be featured events at the festival.

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid Readers’s June discussion of “The Hidden Life of Trees” by Peter Wohlleben will take place at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River on Monday, June 23 at 10 a.m.

All-you-can-eat breakfast
ROCK — The Rock Lions Club will be hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and can drive on Sunday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lion’s Club building, 14454 M-35 in Rock. Children five and under eat free.
Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable canned good to help support the can drive. The Rock Lions Club is supporting access to food for the local community by creating a location for food collection during select events throughout 2025, including the breakfasts.
Delta Coin Club to meet
ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Delta Coin Club is Tuesday, June 10, at 5 p.m. in room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center building at Bay College. The public is always welcome.

Garden museum to open
GARDEN — The Garden Peninsula Historical Society will open the Schoolhouse Museum on Friday, June 13. Volunteers are available Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
There are many exhibits that detail early life on the Peninsula, including displays honoring early doctors and veterans. Available for research are family history notebooks that offer many interesting facts on the pioneer families. Names are being accepted for the Honoree Dinner scheduled for September. To be considered, a potential honoree must be a past or present resident of the Garden Peninsula and at least 80 years of age. MARSP to meet
MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Chapter of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet on Thursday, June 12, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338, Carbondale, Michigan. Registration is from 10:45 – 11:25 a.m. CDT with the luncheon served at 11:30 a.m. CDT. On the menu is an Italian dinner at a cost of $15.
The program will be a memorial service to honor and remember Menominee County chapter members who have passed away since last June. There will be a short business meeting following the memorial service. Members are encouraged to bring a school supply donation.

AmVets golf outing planned
ESCANABA — The AmVets will be holding a golf fundraiser on June 14 at the Highland Golf Course, starting at 10 a.m. The $60 per person entry fee includes cart and a luncheon. There will be prizes for longest ball and closest to pin.

LWV seeks book donations
ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVD’s and music CD’s to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.
Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.
Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The League is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests that the books meet the donation criteria.
The book drop-off location has changed. Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St., use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208 (straight in) and look for the sign.
