Sewing classes at Antique Village

ESCANABA — The U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association will once again be hosting sewing classing this year. Two one-hour classes will be offered on June 5, 12, 19 and 26 in the Antique Village on the U.P. State Fairgrounds.

Students must be at least eight years old. Adults are welcome.

Level 1, a sewing class for beginners, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class will include the basics of the sewing machine, machine safety, basic machine adjustments, preparing to sew, making seams, fabric basics and finishing a simple project.

Level 2, which is for those with basic sewing machine skills, will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. These classes will include more advanced techniques and cover reading patterns, hemming, seams, pipping, zippers, using elastic and darts, and other skills. Students will complete a pillow as a project.

St. Anthony of Padua raffle winner named

ESCANABA — The winner of the May 19th St. Anthony of Padua calendar raffle is Fran Prey of Escanaba. Prey won the weekly prize of $100.

Tickets are still available for the June 2025-May 2026 at the church office, located at 1820 9th Ave. North. Office hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Cemetery rummage sale seeks donations

ESCANABA — Donations are now being sought for the 24th Annual Lakeview Cemetery Rummage Sale. Clothes, electronics or mattresses will not be accepted.

The sale will be held June 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. and June 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
