MARSP to meet

MANISTIQUE — The luncheon meeting of the Manistique Area Retired School Personnel will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at the 40 Bar and Grill 100 S 2nd Street. Socializing will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch being served at noon.

The guest speaker will be Ann MacGregor, executive director of Hiawathaland Habitat for Humanity. She will talk about the 30th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity in Manistique.

Retired school personnel from Eastern Delta and Schoolcraft counties are welcome to attend. Call Ruth at 906-283-3209 with any questions you may have.

906 SERA to meet

GWINN — 906 SERA (State Employee Retirees Association) of the Upper Peninsula will meet at noon on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Up North Event Center in Gwinn.

The main speaker for the session will be Civil Service Benefits Division Director Bethany Beauchine. Also present will be representatives of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the medical and mental health insurance provider for retirees.

This will be the final meeting at which Arva Overton will represent Blue Cross/Blue Shield, as she is retiring. She will introduce her successor, Kelsy Sawdy.

906 SERA represents the approximately 3,000 State of Michigan retirees that live in the Upper Peninsula. These retirees are from the Departments of Natural Resources, Corrections, Health and Human Services and Transportation for the most part, but include retirees from all branches and departments of state government.

All State of Michigan retirees are welcome to attend the meeting which will begin at noon with a luncheon. Reservations are necessary and can be made by telephone with Edgar Sommers II at 906-250-5560 by Noon on Monday, May 12, 2025. The cost of the meal for the meeting is $20, payable at the door.

ESCANABA — Disabled American Veterans Chapter #24 will conduct meetings at 7 p.m. the first Monday of every month at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

Escanaba Legion sets meeting schedule

ESCANABA — American Legion Post #82 of Escanaba will be conducting meetings every first Tuesday of the month at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Road, in Escanaba. The meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m.
