St. Anthony of Padua raffle winner named

ESCANABA — The winner of the May 5 St. Anthony of Padua calendar raffle is Gayle Deshamboo of Escanaba. She won the $100 weekly prize.

Tickets for the June 2025-May 2026 are available for sale at the parish office, 1820 9th Ave North in Escanaba during the business hours of 9 a.m. to noon and  12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Escanaba Class of 1980 reunion July 12

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1980 reunion will be held July 12 at Pioneer Trail Park at 2 p.m. There is a $45 per person cost to attend.

The event will feature music, food, 50/50 raffles and more. BYOB.

Pasties in Rapid River

RAPID RIVER — Fresh pasties will be available at the St. Charles Borromeo parish center on Tuesday, May 20. Pickup will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Call 906-474-6606 early to order Memorial Day pasties and specify if you want plain or rutabaga.

Mother’s Day brunch

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks Lodge will hold its final brunch of the year, Mothers Day, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For reservations over four, call the club at 906-786-2294 after 4 p.m. Do not leave reservations on the answering machine. As always, the public is invited to attend.

Memorial UMC clothes closet extended hours

GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church will be extending the hours of its free clothes closet during its rummage sale. The hours for the closet are as follows:

Thursday, May 8 — 2 to 7 p.m.

Friday, May 9 — 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, May 10 — 8:30 to 11: 30 a.m.

Scouting event

ESCANABA — The Hiawathaland District of Scouting America is hosting Spring Into Scouting, an event for families interested in learning more about Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA. Interested families may attend the event at the DNR Pocket Park in Escanaba or Lakenenland in Marquette on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
