Historical society remembers Mosenfelder
ESCANABA — The family of Clara Mosenfelder and the Board of Directors of the Delta County Historical Society will open the museum and archives on Tuesday, May 13, to celebrate Mosenfelder’s life and acknowledge her role in shaping the historical society. From 1 until 4 p.m., friends are welcome to visit the museum exhibits she created and to enjoy some of her artwork. Light refreshments will be served.
Mosenfelder passed away on Jan. 21, less than a month before her 99th birthday. She was a founding member of the local chapter of The League of Women Voters, president of the Escanaba Area School Board, and president of the Delta County Historical Society. She was instrumental in restoring and preserving the Sand Point Lighthouse. In addition, she was a talented and generous artist and teacher.
Memorial UMC Clothes Closet hours extended
GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church will be extending the hours of its free clothes closet during its rummage sale. The hours for the closet are as follows:
Thursday, May 8 — 2 to 7 p.m.
Friday, May 9 — 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, May 10 — 8:30 to 11: 30 a.m.
Salad luncheon May 16
ESCANABA — For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the women of the First Presbyterian Church of Escanaba will be holding a salad luncheon this spring. The luncheon will be held on Friday, May 16 at the church, located at 819 1st Avenue South, with serving time between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Salads, deviled eggs, vegetable pizza, cucumber sandwiches, rolls and bars will be served. Absolutely no tickets will be sold at the door. To get tickets, call Kathy at 906-786-7030 or Sue at 906-786-2464.
Democrats to meet
