Santa to visit Soo Line train in Gladstone Wednesday

GLADSTONE — In an announcement from the North Pole, Santa has confirmed he will be dropping by the Soo Line Christmas Train #730 on Wednesday, Dec.18 for an unforgettable afternoon of holiday cheer. The first-ever event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. off the highway, in the Canadian National Railroad yard. CN has supported this event by offering use of the yard. “Seeing Santa is special, seeing a Christmas train is even more special,” said John Pickard, president of the Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine #730 Authority, who described the free event as “our Christmas gift to the community for all the donations and support.” Youngsters are encouraged to bring their letters for Santa, who will be there to hear their Christmas wishes, and to view the festively-lit train. In addition, there will be complimentary candy canes and hot chocolate. Donations continue to be sought for restoration and perpetual care.
