ESCANABA — Charlie Becker, board chair of the Community Foundation for Delta County, along with board members Will Carne, Sr., Bob VanDamme, Marc Zawacki and Nick Chenier presented a check in the amount of $4,018.66 to Kathy Stannard, secretary of St. Joseph-St. Patrick’s Church recently.

“The gift to the St. Joseph-St. Patricks’ Church is from the annual distribution of an endowed fund in the Community Foundation for Delta County started by Robert and Anne Schmit, longtime members of the parish,” said Becker.

According to Stannard, the Schmits were supportive of the parish while they were alive and the parish is extremely grateful that they remembered the church with an annual gift after their passing.

“Robert and Anne Schmit were well known members of the community and placed an endowment in the community foundation to continue their philanthropy to several organizations and causes after their passing. Our community owes Mr. and Mrs. Schmit a deep debt of gratitude,” said Carne.
