Chili cook off Tuesday

ESCANABA — St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish is holding its second annual Chili Challenge on Tuesday, Oct. 29 beginning at 6 p.m. in the parish hall, which is located in the basement of the church. The parish has an elevator located on the east side of the church on 7th Street for ease of access to the hall.

The public is invited to sample several different chilis and vote for their favorite. There will also be bucket raffles and a 50/50 drawing as well.

Indian Education feast

ESCANABA — Escanaba Schools’ Title VI Indian Education public feast will be held at the Upper Elementary cafeteria on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. Indian Ed program forum information will be available. For handicap accessibility, use street-level doors on South 16 St. (the elevator near the 15th Street main entry offers access to the cafeteria level).

Christmas basket sign up

ESCANABA — The St. Vincent de Paul 2024 Christmas basket sign-up will be Oct. 21 through Nov. 11. Applications are available at the SVdP Service Center, 115 N 8th Street, Escanaba. Individuals are asked to fill the applications out at the Service Center. The center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Christmas baskets are for families with dependent children in need of help this Christmas season.

There will be two scheduled pick-up times are Thursday afternoon, Dec. 12, and Friday morning, Dec. 13. Pick up will be at the Ruth Butler Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds.

More details will be supplied on the applications.

Dance in Rock

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by Old Friends.

There is a door cost and free will donation lunch. For more information, call Lucy at 356-6459. All proceeds benefit the Senior Corporation.
