Ham radio group plans event for Saturday

ESCANABA — The Delta County Amateur Radio Society will once again run its annual Field Day event, exercising their ability to communicate with other amateur (Ham) radio stations around North America.

The purpose is to test the ability to run multiple stations with no infrastructure, no local buildings, and no commercial power. It’s a great way to practice setting up and operating our radios during an emergency.

This year the society will operate from the north end of Aronson Island on Saturday, June 22. The event begins at 2 p.m. The public is welcome to visit and get information about our exciting hobby.
