Steak feed Thursday

GLADSTONE — Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will be holding a steak feed dinner on Thursday, May 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Legion hall. The meal costs $20 per person. The public is welcome.

Holy Name Class of 1964 reunion

ESCANABA — The Holy Name Class of 1964 will be having a 60th class reunion on Saturday, Sept. 14. There will be a Mass, social hour, dinner and dance at the House of Ludington. Registration is due by June 1. For more information, call Ellie at 906-789-9034. Leave a message if there is no answer.

New Christian school opening in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The Living Waters Academy, a private classical and Christian K-8 school, is planning to open Tuesday, Sept. 3 in Gladstone. The exact location of the school will be announced at a later date.

The school is currently enrolling students for the 2024-2025 school year, but space is limited. Students are enrolled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Friends of the Library ice cream social

ESCANABA — The Friends of the Escanaba Library invite everyone to join them on Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. for their Annual Ice Cream Social in the Library Garden. A used book sale will also be held. The Escanaba City Band, who are celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year, will provide entertainment as guests enjoy cake and ice cream.

Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets as seating provided is limited. In case of inclement weather, the social will be held inside the city hall/library complex.

Sewing class

ESCANABA — A free sewing class for adults and children age 8 and older will take place this summer at the Community Hall at the U.P. Steam & Gas Engine Antique Village. The hall is the blue building by the Delta County Chamber of Commerce Building and is attached to the school house.

This “Sewing 101” class will include sewing safety, sewing machine anatomy, how sewing machines work, and a skills development project.

Classes will be held for four weeks in June. Classes are Thursdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
