ESCANABA — The Friends of the Escanaba Library invite everyone to join them on Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. for their Annual Ice Cream Social in the Library Garden. A used book sale will also be held. The Escanaba City Band, who are celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year, will provide entertainment as guests enjoy cake and ice cream.

Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets as seating provided is limited. In case of inclement weather, the social will be held inside the city hall/library complex.

Wells Lions Club raffle winners named

WELLS — The Wells Lions Club 52-week raffle winners for the week of May 20 were EJ Kostreva, of Ishpeming, and Sheila Walker, of Kipling. This was week 42 of the raffle.

Volunteers needed for flag placement

GLADSTONE — Volunteers are needed to put flags on service members gravesites at Fernwood Cemetery on Friday, May 24, at 9 am.

Containers of flags will be placed at each section, for that section. Do not take flags to a different section. The exact number of flags is for the number of gravesites in that section. Volunteers will join the Gladstone American Legion Post 71 members, as more hands, less work for all.

Call Sandy at 702-340-5677 if you have any questions.

As a reminder, there will be no Memorial Day ceremony at Fernwood Cemetery this year. American Legion Post 71, of Gladstone, would like to apologize for not being able to put together a ceremony. Lack of time to put it together and a changeover of council has prevented them from making it happen.
