SERA to meet in Gwinn

GWINN — State of Michigan Retirees and their guests will meet for a luncheon meeting at the Up North Events Center in Gwinn on Monday, May 13. Luncheon will begin at noon. Retirees and their guests need to make reservations with Edgar Sommers by calling 906-250-5560 no later than Sunday, May 5.

The lunch buffet will include ribs, fish and fowl specials along with a select vegetable and potato selection, followed by a dessert and beverage. Cost of the reservation will be $20.

Special speakers for the event will include Arva Overton, Blue Cross insurance specialist for the State of Michigan Retirees and a presentation on TRIAD in the Marquette County area which provides protections and services for senior citizens.

All members of SERA (State Employee Retirees Association) and their guests are welcome. Any retiree from State of Michigan employment is welcome to attend.

The members of the 906 SERA Board of Directors for 2024 will be introduced at the meeting.

Members may pay 2024 dues at the meeting.

Esky Class of 1974

ESCANABA — The Esky Class of ’74 is planning their 50th reunion for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14.

Events are planned for both days concluding with a celebration at the Highland Golf Club on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5:30 p.m. to midnight.

The reunion will include food, memories, memorials, ’70s music, plus much more. There are special discounts available at three area hotels. For more detailed information, find “Esky 50th” reunion Class of ’74” on Facebook.
