Food assistance eligibility requirements
ESCANABA — Every Tuesday, the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) will be available at the Escanaba Senior Center from 1 to 3 p.m. The senior center is located at 225 N. 21st Street in Escanaba. No deliveries will be available.
At each distribution, individuals seeking assistance will be required to provide their name, full address, household size, and how they are eligible. TEFAP participants must fall at of under 200% of the federal poverty income guidelines. Current participants of SNAP, WIC, CSFP, FPDIR, and SSI are automatically eligible for TEFAP.
All TEFAP information collected is self-declared. Eligibility must be self-declared at each distribution, either in writing or verbally.
The qualifying income levels are as follows:
One member household — annual gross income of $29,160, monthly gross income of $2,430, or weekly gross income of $561
Two member household — annual gross income of $39,440, monthly gross income of $3,287, or weekly gross income of $758
Three member household — annual gross income of $49,720, monthly gross income of $4,143, or weekly gross income of $956
Four member household — annual gross income of $60,000, monthly gross income of $5,000, or weekly gross income of $1,154
For each additional family member, annual gross income increases by $10,280, monthly gross income increases by $857, and weekly gross income increases by $198.
