Library seeking Mackinac Island items

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Public Library is looking to borrow items of Mackinac Island memorabilia for its May display, “Mackinac Island Memories.”

Email Jane Lynch at jlynch@escanabalibrary.org to let the library know what type of item(s) you have, and to get information about dropping off and picking up items. Items cannot be dropped off at the library without prior contact with Lynch.

The library will not print photos or digital content, but will take all reasonable steps to make sure items are returned in the manner in which they were dropped off. All items will be labeled with the donor’s name.

NARFE to meet

ESCANABA — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will meet by Zoom only at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 24. Priscilla Burnham, voter services coordinator of the League of Women Voters of Marquette County, will speak to the group. She will discuss voting regulations, including those for early voting and absentee ballots. A time for member questions and comments will follow.

Chapter members will receive the Zoom link by email. Members who are not on the Chapter email distribution list and who want to receive the Zoom link and passcode should email upmags@gmail.com.

Any active or retired Federal employees are invited to attend NARFE meetings. Non-members are welcome as guests.

NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, L’Anse, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information, email upmags@gmail.com.

Legion steak feed

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 of Gladstone will be hosting a steak feed on Thursday, Apr 25, from 4 to 7 pm. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the meal is $20 per person, while supplies last. The public is welcome.

Fundraiser at Amvets

ESCANABA — The Sons of Amvets are holding a fundraiser on Saturday, April 27, to help pay for the chair lift that was recently installed at the Amvets hall for disabled veterans.

The Grand Design Band, along with the band JD & Co., will be performing for you on from 7 p.m. to midnight. A $10 donation will be collected at the door. Doors open at 4 p.m.
