Friends of DATA set meeting schedule

ESCANABA — The Friends of DATA, which supports the Delta Area Transit Authority, has announced its bi-monthly meeting schedule for 2024. The meetings are as follows:

Tuesday, May 14, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center

Tuesday, July 9, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center

Tuesday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the DATA Boardroom

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Willow Creek II Community Room

Transportation to and from the meetings is provided by DATA at no cost. When calling DATA (906-786-1186), indicate you are attending the Friends of DATA meeting.

Democrats to meet

ESCANABA — The Delta Dems will meet Wednesday, May 1, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the USW Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. Social time begins at 6:30 pm.

Loans available for Gladstone students

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Scholarship and Student Loan Foundation will be awarding interest-free $2,500 loans to the Gladstone High School graduates pursuing further education for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Alumni may receive up to 4 annual loans during their lifetimes. Applications will be available beginning May 1 in the high school office. The deadline for submission is June 7, and both parent and student signatures are required on the forms.

Free Clothes Closet

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church Clothes Closet is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closet offers free clothes, coats and shoes for children, adults and in all sizes, including infant and plus sizes. The church and clothes closet are located at 1920 Lake Shore Dr., Gladstone (near McDonald’s).
