Bay Sages to meet March 7 at Bay

ESCANABA — The Bay Sages will gather for their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay de Noc Community College.

The Bay Sages is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing lifelong learning experiences for older adults. Dues are $20 for the year and include monthly newsletters, coffee and rolls at regular meetings and a wide variety of educational opportunities for members. Guests and new members are welcome. Dues are payable at the meeting or can be mailed to Bay Sages at Bay College.

The March program is 50 Years at the Bonifas. Chris Holmes and Lynn Soderberg will talk about the history of the William Bonifas Fine Arts Center and the Players de Noc’s association with its building. They will talk about how the Center came about, modifications that have been made to the structure, challenges to their funding over the years, and what the Center currently offers. Also discussed will be how the Players de Noc got started and became affiliated with the Center, which includes a photo slideshow of their popular performances over the years.

Future programs will include:

April 4 – Escanaba Public Library

May 2 – Henry Ford (part 2)

June 7 – Travelogue — Ray and Maggie Miller and Birthday Luncheon

Dance at American Legion March 16

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone American Legion, located at 803 Delta Ave., will be holding a dance on Saturday, March 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. Music will be provided by Tim Hirn and Company.

There is a $2 cover charge at the door and ID’s will be checked. Beverages and a 50/50 will be available.

The public is welcome.
