Editor's note: The students in Autumn Buchholz's publications class at Gladstone High School recently wrote columns chronicling the life of an average high school student. A selection of these columns will be published in the Daily Press. Today's column is by Mackenzie Blume.

Like most high schoolers, my life is pretty monotonous. While there are surprises, my routine mostly stays the same.
Every day my alarm goes off at 6:00. I struggle to stay awake after this, so one of my parents comes into my room and turns on the lights at 6:30 to help me wake up. After this, I get dressed, do my hair, and finish getting around. I make myself a coffee and am ready to go to my bus stop by 7:20.
Once I get to school, I talk to one of my friends who rides my bus. Then I go get breakfast from the cafeteria. I take my food to the library to sit with some of my friends.
The school day officially starts at 8:05. My first class is personal finance. In this class, I learn a lot of important lessons on how to handle my future finances. Then, during my next class, I aide for one of my favorite teachers. I typically don't have much to do, so I go sit in the cafeteria and get some of my work for my other classes done. After this, I go to biology. This is my least favorite class. After this hour, there is lunch. When I don't have meetings for my extracurriculars, I eat with my friend in the lunchroom.
After lunch, I have a free period. I use this hour to get my dual enrollment college homework done. Then I go to publications. In this class, we work on our school's newsletter and yearbook. After this, I have my last class, statistics.
After the school bell rings, I ride the bus home. Instead, I watch my younger brother some days. I also get any homework I have done while watching him. My mom and dad get home from work around 5:30. After this, we eat dinner and hang out as a family. Then I get ready for bed and repeat the process again the next day.
