ESCANABA -- On Saturday, Jan. 20, members of Escanaba Elks Lodge #354 presented a $2,000 donation for the food pantry at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River.

Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meet the needs of today's veterans, and improve the quality of life in the communities they serve.

Throughout the year, Elk members make donations to the Elks National Foundation, which in turn returns money to local lodges in the form of Community Investment Program grants.

In this case, the members of the Escanaba Elks Lodge used the "Spotlight" grant to provide this helpful donation, putting a spotlight on combating hunger in the community.

The food pantry at Calvary Lutheran Church is open on an as-needed basis to assist those in need in Rapid River and the surrounding area. To learn more about their services, please call 906-474-9353.
