Schoolcraft County welcomed home Ryan Francis, John Earl and Angela Marie Burns this week in 1984. The state’s first “test tube triplets” were born in Grand Rapids on Nov. 4 and were hospitalized until Monday, Dec. 10, 1984. A Grand Rapids firm donated the jet transportation and proud poppa George Burns is pictured here receiving one of the triplets from a nurse who accompanied the family on the flight home. Family and friends gathered at the Schoolcraft County Airport for the welcome celebration. The babies will remain on monitors for three to six months as precautionary measure.
