Sale supports coats for children in need

ESCANABA -- From Tuesday, Dec. 5 through Christmas, a sale of gift items will take place at the Swedish Pantry in Escanaba, with funds supporting the purchase of outerwear for children in need. The items in the sale come from a private donor and Swedish Pantry Owner Phyllis LaBranch.

To shop the collection, visit the Swedish Pantry and ask for Phyllis.

Escanaba Legion to meet Tuesday

ESCANABA -- The Escanaba American Legion Post 82 will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec 5, at 6:30 p.m., at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba. All legion members are encouraged to attend to help rebuild this post.

Gladstone Legion announces calendar

GLADSTONE -- The Gladstone American Legion has announced their events for the month of December. That are as follows:

Dec. 4 -- American Legion Post 71 monthly meeting, 6 p.m.

Dec. 5, 12, 19 -- Taco Tuesday, 4:30 to 7 p.m. (open to the community)

Dec. 13 -- Sons of the American Legion, 6 p.m. (Saloon)

Dec. 14 -- Auxiliary meeting pizza party, 6 p.m.

Dec. 16 -- Christmas party, 4 p.m.

Dec. 17 -- Breakfast, 9 a.m. to noon (open to the community)

Dec. 20 -- Riders meeting, 6 p.m., location to be determined

Dec. 28 -- Steak Feed, 4 to 7 p.m. (open to the community)

All meetings and events are at the Legion Post, 802 Delta Ave., in Gladstone unless otherwise stated.

Hospice ornament exchange Dec. 14

ESCANABA -- UP Health System Hospice will be holding it's annual memorial ornament exchange on Dec.14 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This event will be at UP Health System Hospice's office, located at 901 S. Lincoln Rd. Suite 2, in Escanaba.

All members of the community are welcome to drop by, bring and ornament and exchange it for one of the handmade memorial ornaments.
