Working on the playground, I have made the acquaintance of all the children in the school.” In addition to reading with the children and helping children break out of their shell with a round of jump rope on the playground, Schram reinforced whatever was taking place in the classroom. “It gives me great pleasure to have the kids run up to me and give me a hug and say, ‘I love you, Mrs. Schram.’ Sometimes, they forget and call me gramma.”
