Elks to hold brunch

ESCANABA — Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 will start holding monthly brunches starting Sunday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is welcome.

Stamp and coin club to meet Monday at Bay

ESCANABA — The next meeting the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is Monday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m., in room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College in Escanaba. There will be an auction, coin appraisals, and social gathering.

Free movie event to ­support food pantry

ESCANABA — There will be a free showing of newly released film, “The Hill” with Dennis Quaid at Willow Creek Cinema 8 in Escanaba on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Lakeside Christian Church as a food drive for the Salvation Army’s food pantry. Those attending are asked to bring nonperishable food items to donate.

Items that are needed include mac and cheese, peanut butter, chunky soup, canned tuna or chicken, pasta, boxed mashed potatoes, cream soups, cereal, canned fruit and pork ‘n beans.

Willow creek is offering anyone attending this event the ability to purchase a discounted $5 small popcorn/soda combo. The theater will provide a ticket for those to bring to concessions.

One-hundred-thirty-eight seats are available on a first come first served basis. If more people show up, beyond the 138 capacity, for the movie with a contribution/donation, you will have to purchase your ticket for a different movie, and Lakeside Christian Church will purchase your $5 combo for up to 100 people past capacity.
