Smear League to start
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone smear league will begin play Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, located at 7064 Delta Avenue in Gladstone. New teams are welcome and play is open to both men and women.

Eagles to host breakfast
ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088, of 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba, will be serving breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a small fee.
The meal is open to the public.
Pasty sale this week
ESCANABA — St. Thomas Church will be holding a pasty sale on Wednesday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 14.
Pasties are available with or without rutabaga and are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis from 3 to 5 p.m. on both days.
MARSP meets Sept. 14
MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP), will meet on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338 in Carbondale. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. CDT and lunch will be served at noon CDT.
Lunch will be available for a fee.
The program for the day will be presented by John Helfert giving information about the Chappe Rapids Learning Center and the Menominee County Center. A business meeting will follow the program. Members are encouraged to bring a paper product or cleaning product to donate to the homeless shelter.
