Gladstone summer ­reading closing party

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone School and Public Library will host its summer reading closing party on Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children ages 2 to 10 years old are welcome to attend.

Children will participate in an outside book walk, listen to music, create a fun craft and have a snack. Reading logs are due back on this day by 4 p.m. This summer reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the library, area businesses and public patrons.

Eagles fifth-Sunday breakfast July 30

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles fifth-Sunday charity breakfast will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 30. Proceeds will go to the Escanaba Township Fire Department.
