MARSP to meet

ESCANABA TOWNSHIP — The August meeting of MARSP will be held on Tuesday, August 1 at noon, at Holy Family Church in Escanaba Township.

Lunch will be served.

Jennifer DesArmo, a first grade teacher from Gladstone, will present information on Harlie’s Angels, a non-profit organization, servicing the youth of our community.

Rapid Readers gather

RAPID RIVER — “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver is the novel up for discussion at the Wednesday, July 19 meeting of the Rapid Readers. The group will meet at Jack’s Restaurant at 10 a.m.

Suggestions for the Wednesday, Aug. 16 meeting are: “The Covenant of Water” by Abraham Verghese, “Trust” by Hernan Diaz, “Deacon King Kong” by James McBride, “The Brutal Telling” by Louise Penny, and “Gathering Blue” by Lois Lowry, which is the follow up novel to “The Giver.”
