Breakfast returns Mother’s Day

RAPID RIVER — The Walter W Cole Post 301, of Rapid River, Second Sunday Breakfast will return on Mother’s Day, May 14, at the Post Legion Hall in Rapid River. Serving will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Children four and under eat free.

Compassionate Friends meeting planned

ESCANABA — Anyone who has had a child die in their family is invited to attend the Thursday, April 27, meeting of the Bay De Noc Chapter of The Compassionate Friends. The meeting is held at 7 p.m. in a third floor meeting room in the First Presbyterian Church located at 819 First Avenue South in Escanaba. The meetings are normally held on the fourth Thursday of each month, except in November and December.

Compassionate Friends is a nonprofit self-help bereavement support organization for families that have experienced the death of a child. When a child dies, at any age, for any reason, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or daughter, a brother or sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.

An international organization, The Compassionate Friends has more than 650 chapters in the United States with locations in all 50 states plus Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. The nearest chapter to Escanaba is in Green Bay.

Steak feed April 27

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 will host a steak feed dinner featuring fillet mignon on Thursday, April 27, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.

All proceeds benefit local community needs and programs for veterans.

Delta Coin Club

GLADSTONE — Delta Coin Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. The meetings are held at 817 Delta Ave., in Gladstone.

New members and the public are always welcome. There will be a limited coin appraisals available if anyone is interested.
