Elks Auxiliary meeting
ESCANABA -- The Elks Auxiliary will hold their May meeting on Thursday, May 4. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:45 p.m. and the meeting to follow. Call or text Peggy at 906-280-1585 with reservations or cancellations by noon on Monday, May 1.
Guests are welcome to attend with an Auxiliary member.
Eagles memorial service
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Eagles will conduct a memorial service of love and remembrance for all deceased Aerie and Auxiliary members on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington St.
Deceased Aerie members to be honored are Thomas LaFave, Bill LaMarch, Thomas Leonard and Bonnie Rohrer. Deceased Auxiliary members to be honored are Carol Kidd, Eileen LaCount, June Pearson and Candance Swetkis.
All family members and friends are encouraged to attend the service, which is open to the public. Dessert and coffee will be served following the service. For more information, call the Eagles at 906-786-3451.
Ford River Fire Department breakfast
HYDE -- The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will have a pancake breakfast and bake sale Sunday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Highland Golf Club at 3011 U.S. 2 & 41 in Hyde, just a few minutes west of Escanaba between Escanaba and Bark River.
There is a cost for the breakfast and to purchase baked goods from the sale.
The fire department would also like to remind the public to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.
Indian Ed Spring Feast
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Indian Ed Program is excited to announce the 2023 Spring Feast. The feast will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at the Escanaba Upper Elementary School, also known as "The U," which is located at 1500 Ludington Street. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The event is open to the public and will feature food and many give-away items.
