NARFE Chapter 1900 meeting set for Dec. 7

MARQUETTE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will meet in person and by Zoom at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Members will elect 2023 Chapter officers, and handouts from Blue Cross Blue Shield will be available.

The in-person meeting will be in the Marquette Senior Center, 300 W. Spring Street in Marquette, on the lower level of City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.

Chapter members will receive the Zoom link by email. Members who are not on the Chapter email distribution and who want to receive the Zoom link and passcode should email upmags@gmail.com.

Any active or retired Federal employees are invited to attend NARFE meetings. Non-members are welcome as guests.

NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, L’Anse, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information, email upmags@gmail.com.

Choral Society concert

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Choral Society will present their Christmas concert on

Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba will once again host the annual event.

The concert will feature a varied program with sacred and secular Christmas music and will include guest musicians. A string orchestra will join the choir on choruses from Saint-Saens “Christmas Oratorio.” Other instruments slated to join the Choral Society include cello, clarinet, hand bells, piano and organ.

Admission is free for the concert. A free will offering will be collected to help pay for the expenses of putting on the performance.

The Bay de Noc Choral Society, directed by Ann Wood and accompanied by John Ignatowski, is a four-part choir that has been delighting audiences since a the 1960s. They welcome new members and all singers are welcome to join the weekly Tuesday night rehearsal. The group will resume rehearsals in January to prepare for the Spring Concert.
