Wells Lions Club raffle winner named

WELLS — The Wells Lions Club 52-week raffle winners for the week of Nov. 28 are John and Tonya Gartland, of Escanaba, and Al Klotz, of Gladstone. The Gartlands and Klotz each got $250.

Sons of Union Veterans to meet Saturday

MARQUETTE — Camp #266 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold their bi-monthly meeting on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to noon in Room 317 of the Thomas Fine Arts Building on the Northern Michigan University Campus.

The meeting will include a presentation by Tanya Savage, a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. She will speak about the experience of her ancestor, William Savage. He served in the 23rd Regiment of the Michigan Infantry.

There is also an option to attend by Zoom. The link is available on the organization’s facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SUVCWCamp266, as are directions to the meeting room.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the heroes who fought and worked to save the Union. Camp #266 includes members from across the Upper Peninsula. The focus of the camp is locating, marking, and maintaining graves of Civil War veterans as well as researching Civil War history.

Anyone interested in the Civil War era is welcome to attend the meeting.

Annual dinner bazaar

ESCANABA — St. Anthony and St. Thomas will be hosting a dinner bazaar on Dec. 4. The annual event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Thomas hall, 1820 9th Avenue North in Escanaba, will include dinner, a bake sale, silent auction, craft sale and raffles.

Take out meals will be available.
