Gladstone students support search for cure to type 1 diabetes
GLADSTONE — On Monday, Nov. 14, Gladstone Area Schools celebrated World Diabetes Day. Students at each school wore blue to show their support for those living with diabetes. At Cameron Elementary, students and staff were asked to bring $1 to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Cameron students and staff raised $510 dollars for JDRF, which is working to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, also known as “juvenile diabetes.” Each class also learned about the disease from Natalie Simmons, who has type 1 diabetes. Her parents visited to tell the students about how she manages the condition.
