Venison Project

GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone is once again running its annual “Venison Project,” which allows hunters to donate the meat from their deer to feed people in need.

The program, which was started 30 years ago by Barb Nemacheck, has collected over 32,000 pounds of venison since its inception.

To donate meat, take your skinned, field dress deer to Viau’s Market in Escanaba or to the Garden Mini Mart. Both businesses are donating the processing of deer for the project, so there is no cost to the hunter — just be sure to specify the meat is for the Memorial Church Venison Project.

Meat collected through the program is given to food pantries in Escanaba and Gladstone. Questions may be directed to Memorial United Methodist Church, which can be reached at 906-428-9311.

Starting at $3.50/week.
