No turkey dinner
RAPID RIVER — American Legion Walter W. Cole Post 301 of Rapid River is announcing that due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the post’s control, there will be no Hunter’s Turkey Dinner this year.
Despite the loss of the dinner, which has historically been a large part of the post’s fall fundraiser, raffle ticket sales will continue, with prizes being drawn on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased from any Legion member, Jack’s Restaurant, the Nahma Golf Course, the Nahma Inn, Swallow Inn, Rapid River Hardware, Bay Bank in Rapid River, Pub Bar or by contacting American Legion Post 301 on Facebook.
The post thanks the community for its support and intends for the dinner to return in 2023.
St. Thomas breakfast
ESCANABA — St. Thomas Church will host a breakfast on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
Christmas baskets
ESCANABA — St. Vincent de Paul 2022 Christmas basket sign-up will be from Oct. 17 through Nov. 18. Applications may be picked up at the SVdP Service Center at 115 N. 8th St., Escanaba. Individuals are asked to fill out the application and return it to the service center.
The Christmas baskets are for families with dependent children in need of help this Christmas season.
There will be three scheduled pick-up times this year: Thursday afternoon on Dec. 8, Friday morning on Dec. 9, and Friday afternoon on Dec. 9. Pick-up will be at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds.
