Fall prevention presentation planned
GLADSTONE — First Lutheran Church, located at 1212 Minneapolis Ave. in Gladstone, will be hosting a presentation, “Slips, Trips and Falls” on Oct. 21 at noon. A luncheon will follow the presentation.
The speaker for the event will be Physical Therapist Heather DeMay, of Northwoods Rehabilitation in Gladstone. DeMay will discuss how to identify fall risks and strategies that can be used to prevent or lessen the changes of falling.
The presentation is open to the public, but attendees are asked to RSVP by contact the First Lutheran Church office by calling 906-428-4565 or emailing office@firstlutheran-gladstone.org.
Christmas baskets
ESCANABA — The St. Vincent de Paul Christmas basket sign-up will be from Oct. 17 through Nov. 18. Applications may be picked up at the SVdP Service Center at 115 N. 8th St., Escanaba. Individuals are asked to fill out the application and return it to the service center.
The Christmas baskets are for families with dependent children in need of help this Christmas season.
There will be three scheduled pick-up times this year: Thursday afternoon on Dec. 8, Friday morning on Dec. 9, and Friday afternoon on Dec. 9. Pick-up will be at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds.
More details will be supplied on the applications.
Dance in Rock Nov. 13
ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. Music will be provided by Old Friends.
There is a cost at the door. A free-will donation lunch will also be available.

Red Shirt Night
ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles Red Shirt Night will take place Nov. 5. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with live music from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. The band is open to the public.
Tickets are available for purchase during bar hours for members only until Oct. 21. After Oct. 21, tickets will be made available to the public. There will be no ticket sales after Oct. 30.

Harvest Supper event
BARK RIVER — Bark River United Methodist Church will be hosting a Harvest Supper event on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. EST. Guests of the dinner are asked to contribute with a free-will donation.
The church is located 3716 D Road in Bark River, two miles south of caution light on US 2 & 41.
