AAUW to meet Oct. 18

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 18 to hear a presentation on school safety by Doug Leisenring, Superintendent of the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District. His presentation will focus on security of school buildings, staff training and collaboration with local law enforcement.

Guests are welcome. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 500 Ogden Avenue, Escanaba. Dessert and coffee will be served.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associates degree or higher. It promotes gender equity and life long learning.

Music at AMVETS

ESCANABA — AMVETS Post 123 in Escanaba will host live music from Reflections on Friday, Oct., 14 beginning at 7 p.m.

Legion breakfast

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 of Gladstone will be hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast Sunday, Oct. 16. Food will be served from 9 a.m. to noon.

Holy Cross decorations

ESCANABA — All non-fall decorations must be removed from Holy Cross Cemetery by Oct. 12. For questions, call 786-4685.

Scare Away Domestic Violence Run/Walk

ESCANABA — Tri-County Safe Harbor (TCSH) will be hosting the Scare Away Domestic Violence Run/Walk on Oct. 15 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Monday. The run/walk aims to raise funds for resources and materials for TCSH and raise awareness about domestic violence.

Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the Ludington Park Pavilion. The non-competitive run/walk will follow at 7:30 p.m.
