NARFE Chapter 1900 meeting Wednesday
MARQUETTE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will hold a hybrid meeting in person and via Zoom at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 28.
The in-person meeting will be in the Marquette Senior Center, 300 W. Spring Street in Marquette, on the lower level of City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.
Chapter members will receive the Zoom link by email. Members who are not on the Chapter email distribution and who want to receive the Zoom link and passcode should email upmags@gmail.com.
Any active or retired Federal employees are invited to attend NARFE meetings. Non-members are welcome as guests.
NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, L’Anse, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information, email upmags@gmail.com.
Legion steak dinner
GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 will host a steak feed dinner on the last Thursday of the month, Sept. 29. Dinner will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Book fair in Gladstone
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone School and Public Library will host a fall Scholastic book fair on Sept. 26 through 30. Fair hours are: Monday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a family event from 4 p.m to 7 p.m.); Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
The public is welcome to come in and browse anytime. The book fair will feature a wide range of books for children, young teens, and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy trilogies, sports guides, manga, cookbooks, and the latest bestsellers.
All funds will go to support new book purchases for the library. Stop in for the latest books and join in the activities, which include a door prize.
Spaghetti dinner Oct. 15
TRENARY — The Trenary United Methodist Church in Trenary will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Oct. 15 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The mean will be served for the price of a donation, with 10 percent going back into the community.
