Bay College retirees
ESCANABA — Retired Bay College Faculty, staff and spouses are invited to a gathering at the Bradfield Camp on Tuesday, Sept. 20, beginning at 3:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6 p.m.

MARSP to meet
PERKINS — The monthly meeting for the Delta County chapter of MARSP will be held on Oct. 4, at noon, at St. Joseph Church in Perkins.
Clare Lutgen, the director of Bay Cliff Health Camp will be the presenter.
Members are asked to bring used candles to donate to the Lake State Industries for fire starters.
Member who have not been called and wish to attend should contact Alice Vermullen at 786-7748 no later than Wednesday, Sept. 21.
American Legion breakfast Sunday
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone American Legion all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held Sunday, Sept. 18. Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to noon.
Ford River Fire Department pancakes
HYDE — The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will have a pancake breakfast and bake sale Sunday, Oct. 9 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Highland Golf Club. This will be the first time the breakfast is held at the new location on 3011 U.S. 2 & 41 in Hyde, just a few minutes west of Escanaba between Escanaba and Bark River.
There is a cost for the breakfast and to purchase baked goods from the sale.
The fire department would also like to remind the public to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.
Eagles to hold breakfast Sunday in Escanaba
ESCANABA — This Sunday, Sept. 18, breakfast will be served at Escanaba Eagles Club, located at 608 Ludington Street. Breakfasts will continue every third Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There is a cost for the breakfast, and take-out meals are available.
Book fair Sept. 26
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone School and Public Library will host a fall Scholastic book fair on Sept. 26 through 30. Fair hours are: Monday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a family event from 4 p.m to 7 p.m.); Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
The public is welcome to come in and browse anytime. The book fair will feature a wide range of books for children, young teens, and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy trilogies, sports guides, manga, cookbooks, and the latest bestsellers.
All funds will go to support new book purchases for the library. Stop in for the latest books and join in the activities, which include a door prize.
