American Legion ­chicken dinner

GLADSTONE — A Croatian chicken dinner will be held at the American Legion in Gladstone Sunday, Sept. 11, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Call ahead to place orders by calling 906-428-1050. Only 100 chickens will be sold.

ESCANABA — AMVETS Post 123 of Escanaba will host the band Old Friends, Friday, Sept. 9, beginning at 7 p.m.

Breakfast at St. Thomas

ESCANABA — St. Thomas Church will be hosting a breakfast on Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

AAUW to meet Sept. 12

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its September meeting at St. Stephen’s Church-Canterbury Hall, located at 500 Ogden Ave., on Monday, Sept. 12.

A brief business meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Escanaba City Council Member Tyler Dubord reviewing current and up-coming projects in the city. A question and answer session will follow. Dessert and coffee will be provided.

Members and guests are asked to call 786-3415 if they plan to attend.

Established in 1881, AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher. It advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Locally, the Escanaba Branch supports two scholarships at Bay College for women who are returning to school to complete their degree. For further information regarding AAUW, call 786-3546.
