MEA collecting school supplies during parade
ESCANABA — Members of the Michigan Education Association will again be collecting school supplies in an effort to fill backpacks during the 2nd Annual Labor Day Parade in Escanaba on Monday, Sept. 5.
MEA educators will be joining members of the Delta County Trades and Labor, along with other local unions, in the walk down Ludington Street and subsequent festivities at the Municipal Dock where the parade culminates.
Parade-goers are encouraged to bring a new school supply to donate. Those who miss the parade can also bring their items to the Municipal Dock where MEA will have a booth and be accepting donated school supplies throughout the Labor Day/906 Day celebration. Backpacks, once filled, will be donated within the community for distribution to students in need.
MARSP meeting Sept. 6
HARRIS — The Delta County Chapter of MARSP will be held, at noon, at the Island Resort and Casino on Sept. 6.
Lunch will be available, and Glendon Brown will be the guest speaker. Brown will be speaking on the Escanaba Solar Project.

Dance in Rock
ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Road, on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by Old Friends.
There is a cost at the door and a free-will donation lunch will be available.

Gladstone library hours change after holiday
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone School and Public Library will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, for the Labor Day holiday.
New fall hours begin Tuesday, Sept. 6. The hours for public curbside pickup and in-house use are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
