Approximately 1,200 families were recipients of free items, ranging from diapers to shoes, at the 4th Annual Mission of Hope, held Sunday, July 31, at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. More than 150 volunteers, many from local churches, got together for the event to provide children’s haircuts, lunch, hygiene items, boxes of food, and family portraits. There were bounce houses, a live band, kids’ games, a fire engine, fishing at the DNR Pocket Park, and the Gladstone Robotics Team, seen at left, was there showing off its robot. Other organizations, like Pregnancy Services of Delta County and Celebrate recovery were also on hand. The event was sponsored by area churches, the Daily Press and other local businesses.
