HANNAHVILLE INDIAN COMMUNITY — In partnership with Spectrum Health Betty Ford Breast Care Services, the Hannahville Indian Community Health Center will be hosting the 3rd Annual Mobile Mammography event on Wednesday, Sept. 21 and Thursday, Sept. 22.

No-cost breast cancer screening is available to any woman who would like to have their screening completed — this includes women of all races in Delta Menominee counties, local tribal community members, tribal employees, and casino employees. Mammograms are completed in just 10 – 15 minutes. Making an appointment will ensure that this screening is done at no cost and at a time convenient for you.

“The staff is so nice, it didn’t hurt, and it was the quickest mammogram I’ve ever had,” said one past participant of the event.

The mobile unit will be at the Island Resort and Casino on Wednesday, Sept. 21 and at the Hannahville Health Center, N15019 Hannahville B-1 Road, in Wilson, on Thursday, Sept. 22.

If you are a woman age 40 or older, and due or overdue for your annual mammogram, contact the Hannahville Indian Community Health Center by calling Kelly Hansen at 906-723-2570 to make your appointment for Thursday, Sept. 22 or call Emily Ferroni at 231-268-1307 if you want an appointment on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Mammograms are available for insured, uninsured, and under-insured women. If you are uninsured, underinsured, or can’t afford your deductible call, Emily Ferroni, at 231-268-1307 to enroll in the Michigan Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Navigation Program (BC3NP). The BC3NP program can arrange for program-eligible women to receive breast cancer screenings at this event, follow-up care for an abnormal test result, and treatment should the individual be diagnosed with breast cancer.

This women’s health event is a collaborative effort of the Hannahville Indian Community, the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan, and Spectrum Health Betty Ford Breast Care Services.

Before arriving at Hannahville the mobile mammography unit provided by Spectrum Health Betty Ford Care Services will be providing mammograms to women in the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Monday, Sept. 19 and Tuesday, Sept. 20.
