Vacation Bible school at Berean Baptist Church

ESCANABA — The family Bible school at Berean Baptist Church will take place Aug. 7 through 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. each day. The theme of this vacation Bible school is “Discovering God’s Ways Through What He Has Shown.”

In addition to the lessons, the vacation Bible school will include songs, games, crafts, rewards and treats. All are welcome.

Sale for scholarships

ESCANABA — The local Chapter EE of the P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization) is a group of women that meets monthly to promote educational opportunities for area students. On Friday, Aug.12, the group is holding a garage sale, with all proceeds going to a local scholarship for an area student. The local chapter focuses on women who are coming back to school to re-enter the workplace.

There will be a large variety of items for sale. The sale will be held at 1501 16th Avenue South in Escanaba on Friday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LWV book sale Saturday

ESCANABA — The League of Women Voters of Delta County will hold a used book, video and CD sale on Saturday, Aug 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Bonifas Fine Arts Center Waterfront Art Festival in Ludington Park.

Proceeds from the sale are used to pay for printing voter education publications or other voter services.

Chicken dinner Aug. 6

GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church will be having a chicken dinner, dine-in or take out, on Saturday, Aug. 6. Serving will be from noon to 6 p.m. The church is located at 1920 Lake Shore Dr., Gladstone (near McDonald’s).
